Good Morning,

The Department of Public Safety's Civil Fine Enforcement Regulation, 520 CMR 1.00, for operating an elevator past the expiration date went into effect on July 1, 2013.

In order to avoid a fine please be careful to follow the correct procedures for submitting your applications:

Make sure that you submit a completed annual elevator application to the Department at least 30 days prior to theexpiration of the elevator.

Please make sure that the Elevator State ID Number on your application is correct and that all fields are filled in.

All annual applications must be sent to the PO Box listed on theapplication.  Applications sent to DPS Boston will be returned to the sender for resubmission to the PO Box.

In order for the application to be considered complete it must be accompanied by the correct fee.  Incomplete applications, including those with incorrect fees will not be accepted, and will be returned to the sender.

With the implementation of the Civil Fine Enforcement Regulation the $200 fee for late application was eliminated.  We no longer accept late fees, applications submitted with late fees will be returned to sender.

A returned application will lead to a delay which may result in a fine being issued.
